Hello and welcome to another SnowRunner video. This time it’s how unlock the Chernokamensk garage. The challenge is not as tough as getting the Imandra garage, but it’s by no means easy. So maybe a little help is in order (see also: new player guide).
Chernokamensk is the fourth map in the new SnowRunner Phase 4 Amur region in Russua. The task is called Back In Action and (unless things change by the time you watch this) you need to deliver two Metal Rolls, four Small Pipes, three Bricks and two Concrete Blocks to the garage.
To get to the Chernokamensk garage involves completing the task to unlock the second map known as Cosmodrome. To do that you need to complete the contract, A Heap of Work at Landslide near the Tunnel.
Watch my how to unlock the Zikz 605R and Cosmodrome video for tips. Link to the video and article with route maps in the description.
Once you are in Cosmodrome and have unlocked the garage, you can begin preparations for your epic exploration adventure. You will want a powerful off-road truck – mud tyres as large as possible and four cargo slots.
I would suggest a two-slot trailer and cargo bed as the terrain is tough. Dragging that giant trailer outside the Cosmodrome garage is not the best idea if you have not completed the Rockslide task along the way.
If you can also bring extra fuel or a support truck, or a friend, then do so. This is a long task to complete and therefore it is easy to run out of fuel although I do factor in fuel stops in this guide.
Just how difficult are we talking? Well, even using the Azov Iceberg truck mod in this video, I still found Back In Action challenging. But the difficulty is more to do with working out the best route, as opposed to the terrain although some places can be a bit spicy.
So leave the garage in your chosen truck and head around the Rockslide task or complete it by providing a Metal Beam from Urska River. Big wheels and a low gear will work best at crawling through the ice if Rockslide is too much hassle.
Keep heading along this road until you see the Farm Warehouse on your right, this is where you went before when unlocking the Zikz 605R. Grab two Concrete Blocks to complete the Fallen Trees task.
Go back the way you came but turn right to head south west along the main road before it starts going south. Eventually you can use the two Concrete Blocks to clear the Fallen Trees task then continue south east.
Soon you will have to take a right and head south a bit more then follow this road until a crossroads. Go straight over to continue heading south east until you reach the Town Storage area. Pick up two Bricks. You actually need three but this is all you can get here.
Now you have a choice. Choice one is go back the way you came and then towards the rock crossing east of the town storage closest to the garage. There are two crossings south of here and a main bridge.
Choice two is you can try and cheese your way across the train bridge, which is missing from the map. To find it, head back the way you came and then turn left at the crossroads before you go up a hill. Follow these tracks until you reach a bridge.
Last time I tested, Saber had improved the collision detection making this easier to do. However, don’t hate me if when you try things have changed.
To cross, slowly get the front wheels over the two small kerbs. Then stay straight unless you want to fall off the side. Note that there might be a random invisible ramp in the middle so take it steady.
Once you have crossed over, continue along the rails then go left and head east until you reach another crossroads. Go left here and follow the main road until you get to a fuelling station. Top up, then continue east until yet another crossroads.
Go to the right around the Tree Blockade over some snowy and rocky terrain to save getting two Cements. Now you can cross into Chernokamensk – and this is where it gets tougher.
Once in the Chernokamensk garage area, head south then turn west onto a proper road. If you continue south, you will come across the Landslide in the West task that requires two Metal Beams. Ignore this – there is another way.
Unfortunately, there is another roadblock when new to this map in the form of the broken Main Bridge. This needs two Metal Beams and three Steel Rolls – again, we will be back to sort this out later as it will take hours and there is actually no need when unlocking the garage.
Just be sure to pick up one extra load of bricks from this area – visit the brick framing south of the Cosmodrome entrance or the one before the Main Bridge. You could actually save yourself taking bricks from Cosmodrome if you take the south east route but it is slower and more challenging.
Instead of the Main Bridge, we will cross the central river to the south. Cruise along the riverside. The wooden bridge you come across first also has a task. It’s called Crossing and you need two Medium Logs and four Wooden Planks. Ignore this and continue south.
If your truck is fast, has big enough wheels or is heavier at the back, you might be able to cross at the next area where there are rocks and watery gaps of death. But it is easier to use the next crossing further south or go over the main bridge after that as it does not need repairing.
Follow the bridge road and we come to a wooden bridge that does need repairing but can’t be. Take the left rocky side and go around. This is not somewhere you want to tip over so take it steady and use the low gears.
Once past, continue along until you see a railroad on your left. It is possible to follow the tracks and cross over the railway bridge or continue east. The east route is longer as you basically do a ring round the garage before coming back on yourself.
It is faster to hang a left then go along the rails. If however you dislike the bridge crossing, sneak down into the valley, head under the tall railway bridge then turn up a steep bank on your left.
Eventually you will reunite with the railway tracks, go right at a crossing and cruise through some painfully deep mud. Then go up the hill and right to the unfinished Chernokamensk garage and deliver the three cement blocks.
Now we need the remaining three items. Two Small Pipes can be had from a Warehouse north west of the garage. Two more Small Pipes and unlimited Metal Rolls can be found in the Warehouse in the very south west corner – near SnowRunner’s first roundabout. Milton Keynes would be proud.
Anyway, if you are low on fuel I would suggest you deliver the Small Pipes first as you go past a fuel trailer. Leave the garage area, go down the hill back into the mud pit of death. Go straight on over the railway and continue along here until you see some houses and the river.
Go right past this picturesque village, following the road with the water to your left until you see the fuel trailer. Top up, then follow this road up until you reach two long straights of tarmac. You see this place in the loading screen. Go right here, then sneak into the back of the Warehouse. Grab your two Small Pipes. No giggling.
Return the way you came or take an earlier right down a steep and rocky hill – just be mindful of a narrow gap along the way. It does save you going round the houses by the river. You can also use it to go up but only the strongest trucks will do. Or the longest winch range. Now deliver the two Small Pipes to the garage.
Next, let’s get the two Concrete Blocks. Leave the trailer at the garage as you only need two cargo slots. This cargo is found at the same Warehouse as the Small Pipes so use the same route. Top up fuel at the abandoned fuel trailer on the way back as the last delivery is far.
Now re-attach the trailer for four slots of cargo or do multiple trips to get one set of Small Pipes and two Metal Rolls from the south west Warehouse. You can use the reverse route of how you got to the garage, either by doing the ring route or skirting along the railway tracks.
Then go over that tricky rocky diversion round the unrepairable wooden bridge from earlier, then keep going west for as long as you can. Eventually you will get to the Warehouse. Load up two Metal Rolls, one Small Pipes and head back the same route in reverse.
If you are good on fuel, the Azov 73210 Active Suspension upgrade is close to this Warehouse. Go to the roundabout, take the north exit and follow the road then branch off to the left. At the end of this stretch is the upgrade. Grab this then head back to your trailer and load up the aforementioned cargo.
You should know the route back to the Chernokamensk garage by now but avoid getting complacent. The rocky diversion is a thin path and much more challenging with a trailer so hug the left side as much as possible to keep from falling over the edge.
Other routes home include cruising along the river once over that lovely bridge you never had to repair, then go right before the picturesque village with the fuel trailer.
Alternatively, hang a right before then and cruise up a steep, dangerous slope with a challenging rock section at the top. If you are a sadist.
Assuming all has gone to plan, you will be greeted by the sight of the garage and it will be yours to go inside once the remaining cargo has been delivered. Just remember to go inside manually, not recover, unless you want to risk a long drive back.
