Wisconsin. Home of the Harley-Davidson museum, wolves and, of course, the long-awaited SnowRunner (FPS guide here) Phase 3 update. Given the area has a lot of forestland, it makes sense that we now have logging – a task seen in MudRunner and one most of us seem to love or hate.
So here are 10 of the best SnowRunner Wisconsin Phase 3 trucks for completing those logging moments as well as getting around and completing other tasks in Grainwoods River and Black Badger Lake.
Both maps feature some horribly sticky mud and deep water so plan accordingly. That includes bringing a flask of coffee and some emergency biscuits. As usual, I’d appreciate it a lot if you hit subscribe and like. On with the show.
The KRS 58 ‘Bandit’ may like to tip over, even with Tayga King balloon tyres fitted, but this free-to-all off-roader is an absolute weapon. Eight wheels, always-on AWD and Diff Lock, minimal overhangs and a healthy selection of addons do the trick in Wisconsin.
Just remember to slap on the roof addon for extra fuel and repair points, as without it the 150 litre capacity is not going to cut it. These are big maps and progress is often painfully slow and tricky, both of which increase the chance of running out.
While the continued lack of a snorkel makes the Caterpillar 745C rubbish in rivers and lakes, those huge 71-inch tyres and incredible off-road performance makes it hard to ignore. Especially as since Wisconsin it’s had an addon for medium logs.
Get past the fact it drinks fuel like a battleship, can be a pain to steer and its size means you won’t be sneaking into forests, and you’ll see the Caterpillar 745C is the king when it comes to extreme fuel trips, rescues and logging.
Next up is the International Paystar 5600TS, which looks and to some extent handles like the Western Star TwinSteer 6900. That long bed has space for three slots of cargo and those eight wheels can get you where you need to go albeit slowly.
Another positive of the Paystar 5600TS is that it can fit the logging crane and carrier addons at the same time, which is convenient if unnecessary. And when fully upgraded it has the performance to do what exactly you need it to, just keep an eye on the fuel.
Just like the Caterpillar 745C, the Azov Antarctic 42-20 was limited to what it could do in SnowRunner. However, thanks to Wisconsin, it’s now so much more useful. But still annoying to steer sometimes.
It has a logging addon, plus huge mud tyres, all the traction, bags of power, looks epic and you feel like a trucking boss when at the wheel. And best of all, lugging logs means its greatest weakness, stability, is negated.
My next choice is the DAN 96320, a truck you get early on from the Quarry in Taymyr that is limited in usage but a beast at off-roading, towing and craning things without falling over. It can have the log carrier addon, too, and is happy performing other roles like a boss.
It does, however, steer rather slowly and its length makes it pretty bad on thin and windy trails. Not that there’s too much of this so it makes my SnowRunner best trucks for Wisconsin list.
Another A Tribe Called Cars veteran, mainly because the Azov 73210 still slow, relentless and awesome at anything and everything. But yes it still smacks its nose into the floor and other surfaces from time to time.
For the trucker who wants to be prepared, the Azov 73210 can fit the log crane and carrier addons simultaneously as well as tow heavy trailers and generally get the job done no matter the terrain. There’s a reason why you unlock it late in the game.
200 litres of fuel may not be that inspiring, but my next choice for the best trucks for Wisconsin list is exciting, speedy and capable if you’re able to keep it upright. Easier said than done, admittedly.
Because sometimes you just want to get something done or explore an area fast and that’s what the ANK MK38 is all about. Those beefy tyres are most at home in muddy, flooded areas and its ground clearance can be a blessing for river crossings.
Another new truck added in the Phase 3 update is the Boar 45318. I wouldn’t say it’s the best performer, but it’s surprisingly potent given there is no mud tyre option. Those 58-inch UOD off-road variants and AWD can, however, get you most places.
It’s also Diff Lock capable for really tough moments, while it can have the log carrier addon if you want to move wood around in respectable fashion. Forgive the fact the horn is terrible as this is a pleasing truck to drive.
The mighty Tayga King may not be as loved as it once was, but for me it outperforms the Voron family when the going gets tough. I just find it more consistent at towing and in harsh conditions, which is exactly what you need in Wisconsin.
It helps that you have a lot of addon choices and that getting the truck involves little effort in Russia early on, so it’s open to newbies. Just be weary that it will make a lot of trucks seem bad and there’s no going back from that.
And last in my best trucks for Wisconsin video is a truck that makes a lot of sense at both the start and endgame of SnowRunner. For although the Azov 64131 is slow, once into fifth gear it stays there and those sub-50-inch mud tyres cut through Wisconsin’s worst like a boss.
It helps that you can get it early on, just like the Tayga 6436, and that it has a multitude of addons and uses – including logging and log craning but not both at the same time. It won’t set your socks on fire, but then some days it’s nice to just cruise and it’s great value.
