See the new TT Isle of Man – Ride on the Edge 2 motorbike racer in action, plus details of a new physics system and the release date.
More details of TT Isle of Man – Ride on the Edge 2 have been revealed, along with a shiny new trailer that shows off the gameplay. Here’s what you need to know.
As with the original, TT Isle of Man – Ride on the Edge 2 has you blasting around the dangerous and enthralling annual Isle of Man TT and other road races, some of which are based on their real life counterparts.
Parisian developer Kyloton Racing appears to have learnt from the past, as one of the new features is a physics system that has been ‘rebuilt from the ground up to create ultra-realistic behaviour’. More precise and natural steering are said to be benefits.
Improved balance in the corners, a new suspension system and improved brake temperature management have also been mentioned. Grip, meanwhile, will feel different depending on the angle of approach so judging your entry speed should be easier.
There will also be a new first-person riding mode for ‘complete immersion’. As one of the best ways to emphasise the game’s ludicrous sensation of speed, we are glad it makes a return. Exactly how it differs remains to be seen.
All 260 corners and 37.73 miles (61km) of the Isle of Man circuit will tameable in a new career mode. Plus you can expect multiplayer gaming as before.
Those who pre-order will get the Ducati 900 free. This Italian-built bike was ridden to victory by Mike ‘the Bike’ Hailwood in 1978, 11 years after last competing at the TT. Other classic motorbikes added include the Norton NRS 588, NV Augusta 500 Three, Suzuki XR69 and Yamaha TZ 750.
TT Isle of Man – Ride on the Edge had its faults, but various improvements helped make it a worthwhile racing game. specially as there’s nothing quite like racing through a town at highly illegal speeds.
The TT Isle of Man – Ride on the Edge 2 release date is the 19th of March 2020. It will be playable on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, with a Nintendo Switch version arriving ‘later’. Feel free to read my review of the original on DriveTribe for more of an idea of what to expect.
