How to unlock the SnowRunner Derry Special 15C-177

Here is a speedy guide on how to unlock the Derry Special 15C-177 in SnowRunner Season 9: Renew & Rebuild.

Got SnowRunner Season 9: Renew & Rebuild? Well, here is a guide on how to unlock the Derry Special 15C-177, which is one of the two new trucks you can get in this Ontario-based region.

If you have just arrived on the map, you first need to complete the ‘Service Center‘ contract under the Fire Department tab. This provides full use of the Albany River garage and involves delivering two metal rolls, two metal beams and two bricks to the Service Center.

That is a total of eight cargo slots, all of which can be taken from the nearby warehouse. There are a few ways to get here, including a sneaky forest route, however for larger trailers and trucks I would recommend going from the main road then take a left.

Exploring the Burned-out Infrastructure

Then bring all the cargo back to the Service Center the way you came and we can move on to the next necessary contract, ‘Exploring the Burned-out Infrastructure‘. This involves visiting four zones, preferably in a scout but larger trucks work well too.

This contract also opens one of gateways to the second Season 9 Ontario map known as the Burned Forest so it is especially worth it. Use a capable scout such as the TUZ 420 ‘Tatarin’, International Loadstar 1700 and Yar 87 or even the autonomous winch-capable TUZ 16 ‘Actaeon’.

Whatever you choose, slap on some off-road or mud tyres and follow the route I am taking. This allows relatively easy river crossings and pleasant singletrack into the forest areas destroyed by fire. Once all four locations have been driven into, the contract is complete.

Looking for the Fire Monster

Now we have access to the ‘Looking for the fire monster’ contract, yet again under the Fire Department tab. This is where we repair the Derry Special 15C-177, which is located in an open and very boggy area.

Bring a powerful truck. The bigger, the better as the Derry Special 15C-177 is a big lump of metal and rubber that has ended up on its side. Pull it upright from the left then drag it out forwards. I would suggest getting it the garage and repair and refuel it there.

A great choice is the Kirovets K7-M, which has impressive off-road performance with the dual tyres and its unique Van Body addon offers 600 repair points and 180 litres of fuel.

The Kirovets K-700, either Kolob and Caterpillar 745C are also good – just ensure the bridges to the north are repaired or go back the way you came.

Garage to Derry Special 15C-177

Mr Derry has 383 repair points out of the 860 total, meaning you need 477 repair points wherever you choose to repair it. As for fuel, it has 171 litres in the tank and needs 380 to be full – a difference of 209 litres.

During the drive home, you can refuel your truck using the Derry Special 15C-177’s reserves, which I had to do because I took a different route and forgot I had not repaired the bridges in the north, although when it is empty it means dragging a dead weight. Spare fuel is not a bad idea.

Once back at the garage, drive the Derry Special 15C-177 into the yellow box specified for the contract (not the one to go into the garage or buy a trailer) then use a truck to repair then refuel it back to life. At this point, the task is complete and the truck is yours. Enjoy.

And on that job well done, be sure to like, subscribe and maybe even join the Tribe. A big thank you to my Patreon supporters, past and present.
