As the Astro A10 Gen 2 name suggests, this new over-ear gaming headset is the sequel to the Astro A10. It retains its wallet-friendly price yet offers a noticeable overhaul in functionality.
Up first is a new exterior design, which takes inspiration from the pricier Astro A40 and A50. Each earcup sits on a vertically adjustable arm while there is new soft and squishy headband padding and breathable fabric and memory foam earpads to improve comfort.
As with the original Astro A10, the A10 Gen 2 features a flip-to-mute boom microphone that cannot be removed. However, you can remove the earpads and headbands in case they need a clean.
The Astro A10 Gen 2 also comes with new audio drivers. Specifically 32mm Neodymium magnet drivers instead of 40mm from before. While the impedance has decreased from 32 to 24 Ohms, audio quality is said to have improved.
As for colours, there are five to choose from: Black, white, grey, mint and lilac. Each comes with a detachable four-pole 3.5mm jack and 6.6ft (201cm) cable. A splitter is included for PCs with separate headphone and mic ports as well as an Astro sticker.
Parent company Logitech G was keen to point out that the new Astro A10 gaming headset features more than 35 per cent post-consumer recycled content and the cardboard box is made from FSC-certified forests.
So which platforms can you use the new Astro A10 headset with? PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and mobile.
The new Astro gaming headset release date was the 1st of March 2022. The recommended retail price is £49.99, which includes a two-year warranty. Stay tuned for my full review.
