How to unlock the Mack Defense M917 in SnowRunner

Want to unlock the Mack Defense M917 in SnowRunner? Here is my super speedy guide, which features the Season 10: Fix & Connect DLC.

The Mack Defense M917 is one of two new trucks in the Season 10: Fix & Connect DLC, the other being the gigantic Kenworth 963 I also made an unlock guide for.

Start the timer! Unlocking the first official Mack in SnowRunner involves completing two contracts then one task. The first is called The Unfinished Business At The Plant from Uncle Fishmore. We do this because it is necessary to unlock the Paralyzed Transportation contract.

Your reward for completing Paralyzed Transportation, with a ‘Z’, from the British Columbia Government is access to the North Peak National Park gateway. This area is where we find the Long Distance Haul task, which is how you unlock the Mack Defense M917.

What is a good truck to use? Ideally something capable of pulling five cargo slots, potentially six, up hills, through mud and with a decent range. Here I am using the Kenworth 963.

Prioritise carrying cargo as there is no need to bring spare fuel or repair points (except for self-use) for the final Mack Defense M917 repair task as you can use the nearby North Peak National Park garage instead.

Required tasks: The Unfinished Business At The Plant > Paralyzed Transportation > Long Distance Haul

Please note: This is the script from my YouTube video, click play above to watch or go here.

The Unfinished Business At The Plant

The Unfinished Business At The Plant contract requires one unit of metal beams, one service spare parts and one cargo container for a total of five slots. Personally, I would get the service spare parts first, then cross back over and head north to the metal beams then east to the cargo container and finally the plant.

To save time, consider taking a second service spare parts as you need one for the second contract. Grab a trailer (or use the two-slotter at the cargo container factory) and fit a small crane – you need six slots so let the the crane carry the excess.

This is a long and potentially slow drive, with one particularly perilous downhill section that can tip trucks over. Not that it ever happened to me. Ahem. Spare fuel or a support truck/friend may be a good idea although you can top-up fuel and repair on the central island.

Paralyzed Transportation

Paralyzed Transportation, meanwhile, involves delivering one unit of service spare parts and two concrete slabs, again for a total of five cargo slots. Load up the two concrete slabs (not concrete blocks) at the factory you now have access to, then head south.

Deliver all three items to open the North Peak National Park gateway. Hang in there, this is the third and final hurdle for unlocking the Mack Defense M917.

Long Distance Haul

Go through the gateway, then head south until you see a collection of islands to the east. If you need fuel or think you will, keep heading south to the fuel station in town.

Getting to the Stuck Truck is not so difficult. Just pull the Mack Defense M917 forward to access the yellow square to activate the Long Distance Haul task.

Drag the truck back the way you came then head south to the fuel station then head east, keeping the large body of water to your right. Follow this tarmac road until it becomes muddy then either take a detour to the west to avoid a blocked road or drive over the rocks.

Keep heading south-east then head east at the fork in the road – leave the tarmac behind and keep following the trail until you reach another fuel station. Head towards the nearby yellow square to enter into the North Peak National Park garage.

Inside the garage, change the addon of your truck to something with refuel and repair points. You can actually use fuel from your own tank if you only have access to repair points.

Now administer the fuel and repair points and deliver the Mack Defense M917 slightly east to the service centre. Drive it in and voila.

The Mack Defense M917 is now yours so recover it, drive it home, go cliff-jumping – the choice is yours. Just be sure to like and subscribe for more SnowRunner videos from the Tribe.
