This is the SnowRunner Phase 8 name

The SnowRunner Phase 8 name has been revealed and the theme is farming – here is some juicy new info from the publisher.

Hello and welcome to A Tribe Called SnowRunner Season 8: Grand Harvest. Yes, Grand Harvest is the name of the last Year 2 Pass DLC – but potentially not the last SnowRunner DLC if you watched my last video.

Speaking in the Focus Home August 2022 Community Update, the team behind SnowRunner also announced the existence of “four new massive summer maps” in a brand new region “never explored before in the SnowRunner franchise”.

Please note: This is the script from my YouTube video, click play above to watch or go here.

Season 8: Everything you need to know

Not in Russia

This region, I can confirm, is called the Belozersk Glades, Central Asia. There is some argument whether it is a real or fictional place, but it has lots of trees so that is a win in my book. And it also proved my theory of moving away from Russia though not to Ukraine.

The forum post continues: “That is for the ‘Grand’ part, and about the ‘Harvest’, your task will be to restore the electrical power supply system in the region, clean and fertilise the fields, and finally, sow crops and reap the benefits.”

Your ears do not deceive you, Phase 8: Grand Harvest will feature proper farming beyond just rescuing a tractor crashed by a cider-loving farmer. Physically driving up and down the farms with new farm machinery may well be what you get to do.

Tractoring on

The SnowRunner publisher also talks about new vehicles – those tractors I mentioned before, no less. We have the Kirovets K-700 from the early 1960s – psychedelics, flowers and free love possibly included.

Maybe the Caterpillar 745C will have competition when it comes to truck rescue. Even if not, it is cool to see a fan favourite from MudRunner.

Then there is the Kirovets K7M, which is where the tyre photo teaser came from. It is a modern-day tractor with a very mean-looking front-end and, I think, the third newest vanilla vehicle in SnowRunner. For now, anyway.

This beast can have anywhere between 300 and 428 horsepower, has some fancy high-powered hydraulics system action and it can be fitted with the ridiculous dual tyre setup in game. Hopefully this is as fun to mess around with as the CAT telehandler.

Lastly, the SnowRunner gods also officially announced the Step 39331 ‘Pike’. This appears to be based on the B-130 from Spintires and MudRunner. Looks like you can raise it up to the gods and use it for light to medium scouting and trucking duties.

Speaking of new trucks, although not confined to the Phase 8: Grand Harvest release we should be getting the Western Star 57X, which is so new the paint is presumably still drying. 2022 is when this truck was released and it does look interesting. Although how useful are highway trucks in SnowRunner?

Phase 8 on PTS?

All of that is the good news. Despite someone commenting that I am a big liar and Phase 8 will not be on PTS today, Phase 8 is on PTS today and I am downloading it now. I do actually make the effort to tell you true things and hopefully my track record is proof of that.

Nintendo Switch Mods still coming?

Anyway, douchey comments aside I do have some bad news about Nintendo Switch mods. Remember when the developer said to expect them in Phase 7? Well, that did not go to plan – probably why Focus Home and Saber Interactive ignored my emails about it.

The official statement reads: “As we stated earlier this year, we are working on adding mods to Nintendo Switch, so that every player can enjoy community-created content, no matter the platform.

“We initially wanted to release the mods on Switch with the release of Season 7 (Tennessee), but due to various technical issues, we had to delay it.

“To date, we can’t give you a precise release window, but we made big steps forward with Nintendo, so we can safely estimate that mods will be available on Switch before the end of the year.

“We are really sorry for the delay and ask our Switch players a little more patience. Thank you for understanding.”

Some interesting wording there. Big steps forward with Nintendo suggests it is gatekeeping the feature to some extent. Either, perhaps, because of quality or performance issues, or maybe because Nintendo is cagey about opening the floodgates on something new to the platform.

As soon as I get a clear release date I will make a video so be sure to subscribe and like if new to the Tribe. We are a 99.9 per cent friendly community and sometimes we have free biscuits. But not Party Rings – those are just circular E-number-based harbingers of diabetes.

Season 8: Grand Harvest release date?

So there we have it. Season 8, Phase 8, whatever you prefer, Grand Harvest. When is the release date? Probably a month or two from the PTS release date, which was, of course, the 30th of August 2022.

Now off I must tootle for it is time for me to play Phase 8 and make as many videos as humanly possible. So. Much. Stuff. To. Tell. You…
