Has the SnowRunner Year 3 Pass just been confirmed?

Has the SnowRunner Year 3 Pass been confirmed? It appears that way, thanks to an official source on the official Discord. Here is what you need to know about that plus the Phase 8 PTS release date and the New Game+ mode.

Hello and welcome to A Tribe Called Ben has been building a kitchen. To be fair, it has been all quiet on the waterfront when it comes to SnowRunner news. Until now – strap in, people, for I have some very exciting stuff to tell you about. About the Year 3 Pass, no less.

SnowRunner Year 3 Pass a thing?

Speaking on the official SnowRunner Discord, Saber Interactive lead producer Mr Esorokin – real name Evgeniy Sorokin (hope I pronounced that right) – was responding to a question about whether Phase 8 will be the best Phase. “It will be the best one, trust me,” Esorokin responded.

He then added with an asterisk, and this is the important bit, “the best one so far”. Oh yes, that appears to indicate that there will be a Year 3 Pass as you would not say “so far” if there was no further to go with SnowRunner.

When is the Phase 8 PTS release date?

What about the Phase 8 release date on the Public Test Server or PTS for short? We now have confirmation of that too, thanks again to monsieur Esorokin. The 30th of August 2022 is the date, which means we only have to wait until Tuesday before I can start exploring this new farming based DLC.

Other questions were fired at Mr Esorokin on the official Discord. One user asked if Mack, Volvo, Scania, MAN, DAF, Mercedes and Iveco would make it into SnowRunner in an official capacity, to which senor Esorokin said “some of those will happen”.

Tell me about New Game+

Now, remember New Game+, the mode expected to launch around the time of Phase 8? Well, I can reveal details of that too. Unlike the usual rendition of this gameplay mode, where you start the game again while retaining stuff you accumulated from the original save, SnowRunner is different.

Instead, herr Esorokin explained that it is “more like an ability to customise your gameplay”. He added that it is basically a “different set of rules for the new playthrough”.

He then posted some images of examples. As you can see, we have rules for the vehicles you start with, the rank, the currency, truck availability and DLC vehicle availability. In case, for example, you want to start with no DLC trucks in the garage.

Not only that, we see other potential adjustments such as tire availability, including the ability to disable certain types such as chained, and time settings, where you can double the length of night and disable time skip.

Those who are afraid of creepy glowing eyes in the distance and darkness can also opt for day only, meaning a summer like in Iceland. The country, not the British supermarket most of us only visit to buy BBQ food.

Likewise, Esorokin confirmed you can have daytime disabled for the entire playthrough. Great news for vampires and other light-sensitive folk. All rules have been confirmed as usable in co-op so you and your fellow SnowRunner homescones can play New Game+ together.

Anymore Phase 8 screenshots?

Unfortunately, lord Esorokin was unwilling to share a screenshot so we only have those released before and the still nameless Phase 8 menu screen, which was more recently unveiled. But he did say to “just wait a couple more days and you will get this beautiful package”. Insert crotch joke here.

Sounds, then, like I will have a lot of Phase 8 content to play and talk about with you in the near future. Assuming, of course, I do not accidentally behead myself while levelling the kitchen cabinets. I also 3D printed some things so stay tuned for that.

And on that note, thank you for watching and supporting the tribe. Feel free to like, subscribe, comment and maybe even buy me a coffee. Or gin. It all helps me stick around.
