SnowRunner Phase 8: Everything you need to know

SnowRunner Phase 8 details are starting to appear ahead of the official release. Here is what we know so far.

Yes, SnowRunner Phase 7: Compete & Conquer has only recently arrived on the Public Test Server. And yet here I am making a video about Phase 8: What Comes After. No, that is not the official name.

My super-secret spy told me that Season 8 is centred around farming. Meaning those who got a taste for growing vegetables and local authority red tape misery seen in Clarkson’s Farm may want to give it a go.

Allegedly, a lot of SnowRunner Phase 8 missions will focus on farm zones that, wait for it, can be ploughed and sown using new trailers. Take that, Farm Simulator 22!

Said trailers are apparently called the Cultivator and Planter. I just hope you like carrots because, at the time of making this video, carrots are the only thing you can farm. Hopefully I can grow some potatoes and onions too and combine them all for a wholesome soup.

Whether or not you can own a flat cap and have Kaleb tell you to stop doing stupid things like harvesting crops incorrectly remains to be seen. However, my same source believes SnowRunner Phase 8 is destined to be set in Russia. Well, kind of.

UPDATE: SnowRunner Season 8 name, location and more

Where is the Phase 8 location?

Supposedly, the Russian location is based on Krasnodar Krai of Russia. However, in light of the Russia/Ukraine conflict raging on (peace, love and safety to those caught in the middle) it probably makes sense to distance from that fact. As it appears Mr Esorokin of the developer team is doing.

It would be an easy PR victory to quietly swap the SnowRunner Phase 8 location to Ukraine. Especially as it has giant farms of its own. A relation actually managed one of said farms, but I digress.

The good news is that Phase 8 is said to have four maps, which may or may not be small like the Don region. That still should mean lots to explore, see and tip over next to. Especially as Phase 7 Tennessee has just the one map and is two kilometres by two kilometres.

Update: Leaked screenshots (see the video below) suggest, once again, that Phase 8 will be based in Russia.

What about new trucks?

There will also be new vehicles. Among them tractors from Kirovets, one of which is given out as a mission reward. Presumably this will be one of the machines you use to get your farm going.

The Claas Xerion 5000-4200 tractor is also rumoured as a potential new vehicle in SnowRunner Phase 8. While it can use tracks in real life, I doubt it will be implemented due to the physics system.

Californian manufacturer Rezvani is also said to be making an appearance as part of a (probably paid) DLC. If so, it would likely mean we get the Tank and Hercules 6×6 off-roaders.

In addition, it is alleged that SnowRunner Phase 8 will also have new cargo types, some related to farming and some related to chemical waste as indicated by a mention of ‘Chemical Barrels’. I can’t wait to make the landscape uninhabitable for decades because of my bad driving.

SnowRunner Phase 8: When is the release date?

So when is the Phase 8 release date? Well, Season 7: Compete & Conquer was aiming for Spring 2022 and it is probably a month or so away. Maybe it will arrive around the time of SnowRunner’s second birthday on the 28th of April. Get the Tayga King MK2 cake ready!

Season 8 is pencilled in for Summer 2022. So we will all be driving around in our mankinis and bikinis while sipping some alcoholic concoction with a miniature umbrella. As we farm carrots and clear up after chemical spills. Sounds glorious to me.

According to that roadmap, SnowRunner Phase 8 may also be the time when the long-awaited New Game+ mode finally appears, whatever that will entail. Hopefully we hear more soon as we have already been given crossplay and the immersive mode.

Update: Phase 8 is said to be arriving in early August, which could suggest a late August or early September release date on all platforms. Unless there is an issue with Xbox again, as we saw with Phase 7.

Any other Phase 8 details?

I shall be updating this article as I hear new information and make more videos about SnowRunner Phase 8, the last of the Year 2 Pass DLC updates. Bookmark and stay tuned!
