About

Hello and welcome to A Tribe Called Cars.

My name is Ben Griffin and I make videos about things with wheels for my website and YouTube channel, A Tribe Called Cars. Sometimes successfully.

Backstory time: I’d just been fired from my first real job as a technology journalist when I was offered to write about cars for Recombu by former Top Gear host Rory Reid.

Over the next five years I ended up driving a lot of cars and went from freelance to editor. When Recombu eventually ran out of fuel, it was time to go solo – something I’d wanted to do for years.

So, here we are with A Tribe Called Cars, which has seen more than 425,000 visitors and 591,000 views on the website. My YouTube channel, meanwhile, has accumulated more than 13,000,000 views, 908,000 hours of watch time and 52,000 subscribers.

Having been lucky enough to write for the likes of DriveTribe and CNN, driving everything from a Suzuki Jimny to a McLaren Senna, I thought I would share my experiences and see where the road takes me. Bankruptcy, probably.

Content-wise, expect car reviews, driving and racing games gameplay, road trips from around the world and cool things to buy.

There will also be automotive 3D printing and photography in the form of guides and equipment reviews.

Viewers get a behind-the-scenes look at the life of a motoring journalist, too, and what it takes to be one. Although I would highly recommend you find a proper job as there are only so many years you can survive on baked beans.

Anyway, join me for the ride and be sure to subscribe. You could even buy some merchandise, support my Patreon or donate money to help keep the dream alive!

All support is genuinely appreciated and will go towards increasingly ambitious video projects such as a project car, more videos per week and general quality improvements.

Feel free to get in touch at atribecalledcars@gmail.com.

All the best,
Ben Griffin
