Top 5 SnowRunner MISSING features

In this Top 5 SnowRunner MISSING features video, I list some functionality that I think would make it even better.

As a SnowRunner YouTuber, I get a lot of comments. Some of them legible. Many of them suggestions as to how developer Saber Interactive and publisher Focus Home could make the game better.

So here we are, with little old me throwing in a few suggestions of my own. Well, not so little after all the lockdown cake. Because to be fair I have sunk my fair share of hours into this digital off-road trucking simulator thing and maybe my feedback is not completely awful.

Why bother? Because it gives you lot a chance to voice your own suggestions in the comments in the hope that the developers have a read. Maybe JellyFoosh is a subscriber. Perhaps he bought a Tribe mug.

Although I would assume the last thing a SnowRunner dev wants to hear about when they get home is SnowRunner.

Anyway, with another year of new content ahead of us and in light of the New Game+, Immersive Mode, crossplay and stuff we have not heard about yet, there is plenty of time for us to see even more things added, tweaked or changed.

Now, stick around for my top 5 missing features, in ascending order, and be sure to subscribe and like to keep the Tribe cruising. The adverts and stuff may seem annoying, but honestly it means I can do YouTube full time.

5) Clear the way

One of SnowRunner’s biggest frustrations are those annoying trees that snag a truck like a leg in a beartrap. The other is deep snow. Some parts of Imandra and Amur are so sluggish you could be overtaken by Captain Slow. Who isn’t actually that slow.

Anyway, Saber Interactive could solve this issue and add a rewarding gameplay mechanic by letting you fit a snow plough or tree cutter and clear away debris. With said debris staying away even if leave the map and return, ideally.

If I was really being wishful, maybe the freshly ploughed areas could start to disappear after heavy snowfall. I would take that extra realism over worrying about having to do a job more than once.

4) Console-to-PC crossplay

Now that SnowRunner is on everything but Mega Drive, or the Genesis if you were born outside the UK, no I don’t mean the band, it makes sense to introduce crossplay. As luck would have it, Saber Interactive has officially announced it. Twice, actually.

I put it as a missing feature then because I hope it extends beyond Steam to Epic cross-platform co-op. Why not all consoles and PC together in one big happy, Tribe-subscribing family? You would need never walk (or should that be drive?) alone again.

3) Co-op text chat

Moving onto my next point, co-op text chat is one of the most requested features I see in my video comments. The reason, I would assume, is that as fun as it is to join a random game with random truckers, sometimes a bit of coordination can go a long way.

I mean, being upside down and unable to cry for help is hardly the most enthralling SnowRunner experience. Kind of defeats the object of co-op in the first place – and it’s not as if this would be a difficult feature to implement.

2) Manual gearbox

And now we move into a missing feature I see passionate, shall we say, complaints about: The lack of a manual gearbox. Yes, some viewers have gone as far as saying it makes SnowRunner like an arcade game, which is a bit of a stretch but I can understand the sentiment.

The simple fact is that SnowRunner is more simulator than anything else. So why not up the immersion with proper gears? That, a manual shifter accessory and a steering wheel would be the dream.

Speaking of dreams: I would love to see SnowRunner feature a virtual reality mode. Maybe something for the sequel.

1) Disappearing trucks

And last but not least, and usually accompanied by the most passionate language, is that annoying issue of disappearing trucks. Yes, when you update SnowRunner, transfer your save from Epic to Steam or even play co-op apparently, your truck or trucks can disappear.

As you can imagine, this is highly frustrating. It resets your progress, effort and to be honest I do not blame anyone who subsequently rage quits. It absolutely should not be an issue and I see it happens enough for Saber Interactive to take it seriously.

Rubbing salt into the wound, one response from Saber basically said we cannot do anything about it. No sorry, no free truck, no monetary compensation (in-game), barely any communication. I just wish the devs were more upfront about it as it hurts the community.

And that, ladies and gentleman, is it for my top 5 SnowRunner missing features video. Lots more SnowRunner content to come so be sure to gently nudge those subscribe and like buttons. No need to smash.
