Hot Wheels Unleashed update schedule and first update

Hot Wheels Unleashed update schedule details

The first Hot Wheels Unleashed update has arrived. Here is everything you need to know about that plus everything you get in the Volume 1 DLC.

Hello and welcome to a rapid-fire Hot Wheels Unleashed video, in which I explain about the Volume 1 DLC update schedule. Come on, let’s not waste time.

As you may already know, Hot Wheels Unleashed Volume 1 costs £24.99 or equivalent in your currencies and gives you a series of new cars, Basement customisation items and Track Editor modules.

The first thing you get or have got is the Bone Shaker car, which is actually slower in a straight line than the standard Bone Shaker. My speed-test video is coming soon.

We all have to wait until the October the 21st for the next and first substantial dollop of new content from Volume 1. One new car is called M. Bison. The chap from Street Fighter, who was known as Vega in Japan and Balrog in Spain.

Volume 1 also includes a Superman car, which probably cannot fly but maybe it has a cape. Then we have an Aston Martin DB5 from 1963, a beautiful car immortalised by its appearances in James Bond movies, starting with Goldfinger. [Singing] “Goldfinger.” Okay that was bad.

Rounding off the October content is the Rolling Boulders module, which rolls boulders in your pathway to cause general panic and mayhem. Plus the Tropical Wave customisation pack, which adds tropical things to bring some summer to your basement.

What about in November?

The next Hot Wheels Unleashed Volume 1 content drop arrives on the 18 of November. You get the Street Fighter Blanka car, which I hope can electrify people as cheesily as in the beat-‘em-up. Wonder Woman arrives, too. I can only hope the car is better than the films.

Hot Wheels fans will be pleased to know another AcceleRacers car arrives, following on from the overpowered RD-02. It is the Deora II, which as one of the coolest and weirdest car designs I have ever seen.

The November update also adds TMNT Leonardo, that acronym standing for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles if you have not watched the show. Which is unacceptable. The TMNT van is already in the game, FYI.

And then we have the Pink Fashion customisation pack. Not sure if there is a reference to the colour, pop artist or condition but there you go. Could be fun.

Moving into to December 2021, this sounds like a weather forecast – probably as interesting too. We have the Hot Wheels Batman Expansion on the 2nd. The on the 16th we get the AcceleRacers Bassline. I was going to make a joke about clubbing, but this car actually has loads of speakers. Joke’s on me.

Then there is the Spinning Tire and Dinopult modules for the Track Editor, both of which sound suitably ridiculous. Then as holiday season, AKA Christmas, arrives we get the Holiday Season customisation pack.

Not a bad amount of content for Volume 1, with Volume 2 scheduled for February 2022 and Volume 3 for June 2022. So pop all that in your diary.

While you may not be a fan of the DLCs in general, the long delivery schedule does give me hope that developer Milestone will fix the key issues I talked about in my worst things video. In fact, one has been improved with the latest update.

The first Hot Wheels Unleashed update

Speaking of which, the Hot Wheels Unleashed first update is here for all but the Nintendo Switch. That is on the way, apparently. On PS4 it is 1.03, PS5 01.004.000 and Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S it is 1.0.0.8. Not sure about the Epic and Steam versions. This really is duller than a weather report.

First up, filters have been added to the Community Tracks and Liveries so they are easier to find. There are also shortcuts to the Store and Collection within the Hot Wheels City Rumble mode, which is convenient.

The add-ons page has also been given an improved user-interface, while there is new functionality for the news box in the main menu. There is also now support for the Racing Season, minor fixes to the user-interface and various bugs have been squished to improve stability.
