How to unlock the Shiba 6/J Overlander in Expeditions: A MudRunner Game

Here is how to unlock the Shiba 6/J Overlander in Expeditions: A MudRunner Game, complete with routes and other tips and tricks.

The Shiba 6/J Overlander, added to Expeditions: A MudRunner Game as part of the paid Season 1 DLC, is a scout with chunky tyres, 100 litres of fuel capacity, always-on Diff Lock, switchable AWD and lovely circular headlights.

To unlock the Shiba 6/J Overlander in Expeditions: A MudRunner Game, we must complete three tasks in the Azure River map in Sedona. These are, in this exact order, A Mysterious Fissure, Secret of the Mountains and An Anomalous Journey.

As always in Expeditions, I would prioritise fuel to ensure you can complete each task comfortably. Some repair points and maybe one of the un-tip jacks, too, although the terrain is not too harsh. Just take it steady and plan a route before you drive.

Pro tip: You may also want to bring a specialist who reduces water damage or aids water crossings as the second task, Secret of the Mountains, involves some deep river action.

A Mysterious Fissure

A Mysterious Fissure requires heading to the edge of the fissure followed by some drone scouting. Then you need to do some surveying of two areas and setup two rangefinders. Starting with the northmost waypoint makes most sense, then work your way south then east.

Secret of the Mountains

Next we have Secret of the Mountains, which involves scanning seismic activity so you need to bring a truck capable of fitting the seismic vibrator (lol).

There are three seismic zones to scan, with one in an unforgiving river so ensure you plan a suitably tactical route and make use of tactical winching and the echo sounder to gauge water depth.

With access to the Forsaken Caves as part of your reward for completing Secret of the Mountains, we can now unlock the Shiba 6/J Overlander. Begin in the Azure River to complete the final expedition known as An Anomalous Journey.

Shiba 6/J Overlander: An Anomalous Journey

This involves exploring a cave, taking a photo of a strange tree then a search for an anomalous rock fissure at one of three highlighted areas. Once found, you need to use a drone to survey the rubble. To do so, fly the drone into the blue circle in the air and fly down until it says complete.

Now head to the next waypoint then examine another strange tree. Once done, it is time to rescue the Shiba 6/J Overlander – a pretty relaxing drive for most trucks though it is never good to be blasé in Expeditions: A MudRunner Game.

The water around the sunken truck is deep so avoid going in the most obvious route. Unless you like rust. The echo sounder will show a lot of red. Instead, skirt round the edge of the lake towards the south-east and follow it west.

Connect the winch to the Shiba 6/J Overlander then go back the way you came, using the winch push or release functions as necessary if you need extra traction in the water and over the rocks. After this, I chose to go east then north as this avoids a watery pathway at the top of the map.

Eventually you will come to the camp where you need to deliver the sunken vehicle. Do so and you will now have access to it in the truck store, meaning it needs to be purchased first.
