The Best Track Cars in Forza Horizon 4 (#4) – Maserati MC12 Versione Corsa

The Maserati MC12 Versione Corsa is one of the best Forza Horizon 4 cars. Here’s a guide to making a good tuning setup, how to unlock and what upgrades work best.

Now I know you’re here to see how to turn the Maserati MC12 Versione Corsa from a toddler-friendly curry into a fiery mass of racing destruction and that’s the plan so keep on scrolling.

But first up, a very quick bit of housekeeping. Be sure to subscribe to the Tribe, share, like and, if you’re feeling really generous, donate to the channel as it all helps me make more videos! I do this for the love, but these videos take time to make and I really like buying cake.

The Upgrades

First up, let’s talk about the Maserati MC12 Versione Corsa’s upgrades. For this guide I’m going full-fat X Class, which means no points restriction so I can do what I want. For specifics on upgrade order for lower classes, be sure to check out my latest Forza Horizon 4 tuning guide.

Now I know all-wheel drive or AWD is boring, but I tend to always do this conversion for road racing as it’s much more effective. It only takes one mistake in an RWD car to lose it all whereas AWD is usually more forgiving. Although at Goliath the speeds are so high that’s less the case.

The stock 6.4-litre engine and twin-turbo aspiration gives you the most horsepower and performance, so I’d go with that. Usually it’s worth holding back on the upgrades that add horsepower at the expense of weight. However, Goliath favours a high top speed as possible so fit everything for an impressive 1,530hp.

Weight reduction is one of the best upgrades as it helps make your car more agile and improves top speed. In the case of the MC12 Versione Corsa you save 96kg.

Also slap on all the race differential and transmission as that means you can customise both the gears and the differential settings. Both are particularly useful in a car that can melt your face with its acceleration.

I keep front tyre width the same to keep rolling resistance down and speed up, but go as wide as possible on the rear. You cannot change the alloy and save weight so avoid looking. I also avoid making the front and rear rim size larger. Track width I make as large as possible on both the front and rear as it seems to help.

There are relatively few upgrades for the Maserati MC12 Versione Corsa so let’s move on to the tuning setup!

The Tune & Setup

I would say the Maserati MC12 Versione Corsa is a handling beast, but also lightning quick. Not quite as fast as the Ferrari 599XX Evolution though. Handling-wise, it’s a lightweight car and can be twitchy, so I have tried to tune some of that out without affecting its turn-in potential.

As mentioned in my in-depth tuning video, I find tyre pressure to be unrealistic in Forza Horizon 4. It seems to work best if you go somewhere between 14 and 26PSI on the front and rear. 15 is the lowest you can go and it works, but a bit higher stops the quick loss of traction if you aren’t the smoothest driver.

I keep each gear the same and adjust the final drive to around 3.20 for a good mix of acceleration and top speed. You will be routinely hitting 260mph+ at Goliath, so more speed is better.

For camber I go with -2.0 at the front and -1 at the rear. Stick between -2 and -1 at the front depending on taste. I keep toe the same for both the front and rear. Front caster I have at 6, but again you can go between 5 and 7 if you want to adjust the handling characteristics to suit your driving style.

Anti-roll bars are set to -3 at the front and 62 at the rear. Yes, this works for some reason in Forza Horizon 4. You can go 1 and 65, but I find going less extreme helps keep the car controllable.

Springs are at around 70 for the front and 114 for the rear. Ride height is 7.3, a few stops up to avoid bottoming out and keep a higher top speed.

Damping just set to around 8.5 at the front and 13.2 at the rear. Bump stiffness I have at 3.3 and 5.5. Feel free to tweak this a bit, having bump stiffness at 50 to 25 per cent of damping usually works well.

I have aero set to maximum cornering at the front and maximum speed at the rear. Brake I have at 53 per cent towards the front as this is currently the wrong way round in Forza Horizon 4. Pressure is best served at 100 per cent or above, 200 per cent is the fastest, but makes it easier to lock the wheels if you have ABS off.

Lastly, differential. Because I have gone AWD for my Maserati MC12 Versione Corsa setup, I have front acceleration at 100 per cent and deceleration at 0 per cent. Same again for the rear.

Centre I put at 62 to 65 per cent to bring back some of the positive rear-wheel drive characteristics without ruining the off-the-line acceleration goodness, which is borderline essential in online racing.

How do you get the Maserati MC12 Versione Corsa?

Sometimes the Maserati MC12 Versione Corsa appears as a car you can win from completing an event. But it may not reappear for a while so I would suggest buying it from the Auction House. Usually costs between 250,000 and 1.37-million credits so it’s great value given the performance.

How do you unlock Goliath?

Reach road racing level 20, which is best done by making custom races with 10+ laps at your favourite road race (Holyrood is one of my preferred choices). Rinse and repeat until you have a mountain of credits and the required experience.

The Goliath Lap

My Goliath lap (see the video) is imperfect Goliath lap, but I wanted to make this video fast. To be honest you can get an idea of what the Maserati MC12 Versione Corsa is like and that’s the main point. If you can get a better time, please let me know! I usually take the second lap or after as my main time.

Bear in mind the original Maserati MC12 FE could manage 7:23 without trying too hard, so it will be interesting to see how much better, if anything, the Versione Corsa version is.
