How to unlock the TUZ 119 “Mutt” in RoadCraft

Here is how to unlock the unusual TUZ 119 “Mutt” in the RoadCraft Rebuild Expansion, which is anything but a dog’s dinner when it comes to off-roading, scouting and looking whacky.

The RoadCraft Rebuild Expansion has arrived and with it multiple new trucks. One of which is called the TUZ 119 “Mutt” – hence all the dog puns in my rapid-fire guide. Well, I would be barking mad not to make them.

To unlock the TUZ 119 “Mutt”, we must first gain access to the relevant area. If you have a truck that doubles up as a boat, you can doggy paddle across the water to the relevant area in the north of the new DLC map called Contamination.

Tab across in the map menu to access it regardless of your per cent completion, but obviously you will need to have purchased the Rebuild Expansion DLC. Then do the first tasks to unlock the garage, which includes a spot of travelling and a spot of route making.

Unlock the Contamination garage

The first task is called ‘get to the meeting spot’, which involves a drive to a location. If you end up in the nearby railway area, remember that you can winch and crane blue train cars to make a path. Barge through the doors and voila, job done.

Next is the ‘open the base near the operating tunnels’ task. Open the menu, start the objective then jump into the vehicle you need to deliver. There is a nasty route east of the truck location, but it is easier to take the wet trail to the west. Just watch out for underwater bumps.

The second half of the objective is to plot a route from the Central Railway Station to the Tunnel Exit Base. Use the roads as much as possible for all three convoy trucks to complete the journey successfully.

With the Tunnel Exit Base open, we can now take our preferred tree cutter and tree delivery vehicles for a W-A-L-K. Claw down a maximum of six trees near the garage to create a bridge here.

Cross the water

Now it is time to focus on the TUZ 119 “Mutt” specifically, like a good boy. Or girl. Point your ears towards this area. By visiting here, you unlock access to the relevant task. Sadly, it seems you cannot be sneaky and drag the toolkit to the area where you unlock the task. Feel free to find a way, if there is one.

Once over your stick-based bridge, take a scout north to the railway bridge as we will need a winch. Keep heading north, cross the river and follow the muddy trail to a settlement and some beehives. Or really tiny houses. At this point, a task to return a lost toolbox to a hermit should unlock.

Fetch the toolbox

Turn your paws around and head back where you came, crossing your bridge, then take a right into a gap in the rocks and under a rocky bridge. Sneak down a tricky, steep path on the left to the water.

The toolbox is sneakily hidden under some rocks, which you can sniff out yourself. There is no need to dig it up like a bone – instead get close enough and then you should get the option to attach it to your truck via the winch.

I actually tried to use a larger truck with a crane and cargo bed, but it could not get close enough to make the toolbox selectable with a crane. Maybe just a temporary bug. Now drag the toolbox back to the little settlement and beehives/tiny houses, turn around and then look for a path to the right.

Along here is where you need to deliver the toolbox. Drag it into the blue box with some crafty reversing, crane work or whatever you fancy, then detach when the toolbox icon goes green. Voila, the TUZ 119 “Mutt” has been unlocked – and with it you get a treat.

The TUZ 119 “Mutt” is yours

Not a chew toy, mind you, but a whacky version of the TUZ 119 “Lynx”. Complete with a bucket, bell, exhaust bangs as you drive like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, gas mask and other interesting adornments.

Having used it to scout the rest of Contamination, I will say that the “Mutt” might become a friend for life, as it goes well off-road, looks great and is generally worth the effort to obtain.

It can also top-up fuel thanks to the roof-mounted can when refuelling is enabled, enhancing its range. Plus its wading depth is comically deep, meaning it could leave wet prints all over your carpet. Not a euphemism.

For the lazier among us or those who want to start a new hard mode save, you could instead use the option to unlock all vehicles and have them cost nothing. But where is the fun in that?

What do you think of the TUZ 119 “Mutt” – is it the dog’s nuts or a steaming pile of you-know-what? Let me know in the comments. Be sure to like and subscribe for more SnowRunner, RoadCraft, Expeditions and potentially Road Kings content.
