Forza Horizon 5 gameplay (Ford Bronco in a storm)

Top 10 new Forza Horizon 5 cars

There new new Forza Horizon 5 car list reveals some interesting gatherings of metal and rubber. Here are 10 of my favourites.

With Forza Horizon 5 not too far away from launch, it makes sense to start analysing some of the important stuff. Visuals, audio, handling, steering wheel support. But most of that is difficult right now – so let’s look at the cars.

Here is a list all Forza Horizon 5 cars so far – go into the video description to find a link. If you prefer, I can fax it over to you. Or carrier pigeon. Whatever suits you, really.

However, for this video I will look at 10 cars new to the game and give you the lowdown. If you’re new, be sure to subscribe and buy an official A Tribe Called Cars mug. Mmmm tea.

Bear in mind the 426-car total is what has been officially confirmed but developers Playground Games and Turn 10 have said to expect even more cars at launch and after as part of future expansion packs.

Feel free to comment what car you are looking forward to – or what is currently missing that was in Forza Horizon 4.

Please note: Jokes about ‘Ford Horizon 5’ will not be tolerated.

Top 10 new Forza Horizon 5 cars: 1) Jaguar XJR-15

Back in the early nineties, British manufacturer Jaguar – or Jaguar – made waves with the 212mph XJ220. But its lesser-known predecessor, the XJR-15, was basically as mental.

Able to munch 0-62mph in 3.9 seconds and top out at 191mph, the XJR-15 was a Le Mans car for the road. You know, the one famous for its purple and white paintjob. Sadly, that and the unusual, closed rear-wheel design were left behind. A potential Forza Horizon 5 weapon.

2) Ford Bronco Badlands

Revivals, remakes and remasters are all the rage. And while some petrolheads found the new Puma baffling, the new Bronco is hard to resist. I already wanted an old one and now I want the new one, which takes off-roading as seriously as looking cool.

Cross-country and maybe rally will be where the new Bronco shines in Forza Horizon 5, but I am not bothered. All I want to do is go exploring in the dense Mexican jungle and see if I can find any buried Mayan treasure.

3) McLaren Speedtail

Although I have driven the McLaren 600LT and Senna in real life, I was not invited to drive the Speedtail. Probably because I started a YouTube channel that has about 12 followers.

Anyway, I do love how McLarens drive these days. Plus the Speedtail is an interesting machine in that it is a hyper grand tourer and features the triple-seat, driver-in-the-middle layout used in the McLaren F1 road car. Who says three’s a crowd?

4) Ferrari LaFerrari

Is this a car that needs introducing? Not only because the Ferrari LaFerrari is part of the original hypercar trio, alongside the McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder, but also because those famous chaps on Top Gear kept calling it the Ferrari ‘The Ferrari’. Because translation.

The jokes end once this thing is in motion, of course, because this beast has a 6.3-litre V12 and two electric motors for a total of almost 800 horsepower. The car to rival the Ferrari 599XX Evo in Forza Horizon 4? Maybe.

5) 1989 Rothsport Porsche 911 Type 964 Desert Flyer

There is something very cool about an off-road Porsche, which is exactly what the Rothsport 911 Desert Flyer and its Red Sled sibling are. Made for the 2017 Baja Mexican 1000, the team beefed-up two 1989 Porsche 964s.

Did it work out? Very well, actually. In 2018 the Desert Flyer came home first in its class and Red Sled in second, making this the first time a Porsche has won a Baja event. Could be a winner for cross-country and rally events.

6) Porsche Taycan Turbo S

Love or hate electric cars, there is no denying they are making the combustion engine look and feel dated at most levels. And with Porsche pushing hard in this area, it was inevitable the Taycan Turbo S would be a beast.

Maybe at lower Forza Horizon 5 classes and in drag racing it will prove effective, especially as the game version features the same two-speed setup and instantaneous torque.

7) AMG Project One

Got a spare 2.7-ish million dollars? Doesn’t matter because apparently all 275 examples of the AMG Project One have found loving homes. So the chance of seeing it and its various F1 hybrid technologies is slim.

Not to worry though because you can drive it as much as you want and without being an oil baron in Forza Horizon 5. It is actually one of two cover cars for the game, the other being the brilliant Bronco, and features all that lovely aerodynamic trickery.

Fingers crossed Turn 10 has captured the sound of its 11,000rpm, 1,000bhp 1.6-litre Formula One engine so you can scream your way to victory. Or, you know, second from last.

8) Ford Escort RS Cosworth WRC ‘Cossie V2’

Imagine a Ford Escort widened by 4.3 inches and given aero trickery from WRC cars. Actually, don’t bother. That is exactly what drift and rally driver Ken Block drives – and the Escort RS Cosworth WRC ‘Cossie V2’ is in Forza Horizon 5.

At full tilt the engine produces 371 horsepower, so there is a chance that its blue stripes, a nod to the Group A Sierra Cosworth, will go past in a blur. Hopefully V2 does not go up in flames like its predecessor.

9) Land Rover Defender

Wo, wo, wo. Cool your jets, Ben. The new Land Rover Defender? Well, yeah because it may not be as sheepdog friendly as it once was but it is still a beast at off-roading. Especially if you can drop a V8 in, just like the real-life version.

I am less of a fan of SUVs in Forza Horizon games, but Mexico’s harsher terrain could be enough of an incentive.

10) Ford Racing Escort MK1

And lastly we have the Ford Racing Escort MK1. Now, this is not just here as part of a shameless marketing push by Ford. No, really. This rather cute looking machine is actually the perfect symbol of Forza Horizon’s transition from 4 to 5.

The reason is that raced in the UK to London Mexico Rally. ‘Flying Finn’ and world champion rally driver, Hannu Mikola, who passed away in February 2021, won the event alongside co-driver Gunnar Palm.

And that is it for a look at some of the new Forza Horizon 5 cars being added. Feel free to subscribe to subscribe, like and donate to A Tribe Called Cars as it helps me keep making videos.
