How to unlock the KRS 58 Bandit in Expeditions: A MudRunner Game

Here is how to unlock the KRS 58 Bandit in Expeditions: A MudRunner Game, which involves conquering one of the trickiest and most frustrating tasks.

Yet another SnowRunner oldie, the 8×8 KRS 58 Bandit was introduced in Season 2: Explore & Expand. Though in Expeditions: A MudRunner Game it gets 30 extra litres of fuel and you need to unlock it – a not-so-fun task.

Honestly, by the end of the mission – known as ‘Quicksand’ – in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona, I had been robbed of my sanity, patience and more than an hour of my time.

It is really not a bad idea to leave this one until you have upgraded the Step 310E or equivalent. Especially as the prize does not seem that great though admittedly I have not yet fully upgraded it.

Task: Quicksand

The KRS 58 Bandit in Expeditions can be found in a crater

‘Quicksand’ starts next to the end of another tough mission called ‘Heavy Load’, which has you trudging across multiple maps to rescue another truck.

Getting to the KRS 58 Bandit is not the problem. Starting at the Central Outpost, the drive is fairly easy-going. I managed it in under ten minutes using the following route. Even getting the stuck truck out of the crater is bearable – just ignore the steeper side route unless feeling particularly brave.

Where things get tricky is when making your way down the cliff edges if your pathway is sub-optimal. Perhaps the Step 310E SE is not the best with the Highrange gearbox and without better tyres though I am using the best engine. Whatever the case, getting the Bandit back on its wheels can be a chore.

As such, if you are going to Spider-Man down rock faces prepare to get it right. Do it straight on, use the towed truck or an anchor to help you descend and be patient. Though this is not the worst bit, believe me.

Before the home straight to the Central Outpost, there is a hill. Or should that be mountain. Even with the Bandit engine switched on, it just seems to act like it has flu, narcolepsy and other fatigue-based disorders.

I would, however, still highly recommend you do not engage the engine until this slope of hell. Every little helps and, unlike in SnowRunner, you cannot refuel or repair trucks you are trying to rescue.

Mount Doom

Potential routes for the Quicksand task in Expeditions, which unlocks the KRS 58 Bandit

At this point, you can take the direct route to the top or hang a left. Then sneak through this less rocky but still tricky pathway. I have even seen some people go even further left and double-back.

Whatever you do, bring all the fuel if your truck is not a powerhouse. Fill the cargo bed, slap it on roof racks. Maybe even have the Cargo Drone on standby. Check that video out if you want to unlock this glorious base module.

Anyway, with some back and forth, the KRS 58 Bandit should eventually crest the hill and then you can pat yourself on the back. Though not the most difficult task in Expeditions, it is one of the most gruelling if you are unprepared.

Running low on fuel? Consider a quick drive to the nearby Central Outpost. Or utilise one of a few nearby airdrops. Use the drone to look for the nearest one if not indicated on the map.

Once the stuck truck has been wheeled inside the yellow square, Quicksand ends and you unlock a new staff member as well as the KRS 58 Bandit. It has always-on AWD and Diff Lock, costs 175,000 Expeditions credits and does not have many upgrades unlocked as standard.

And that is it for this how to unlock the KRS 58 Bandit in Expeditions guide. Let me know how you finished this task and be sure to like and subscribe for more off-road trucking videos. Take care, bye.
