Hot Wheels Unleashed fastest car speed test

Hot Wheels Unleashed: Which is the fastest car?

In my Hot Wheels Unleashed fastest car video (featuring 30 vehicles), I see which one is king and whether we should trust those stats.

What is Hot Wheels Unleashed fastest car and should we trust those stats? That is a tough question to answer without testing. If only there was some sort of elaborate method of creating custom scenarios within the game.

Oh wait, we have the track editor mode. Yes, it is time to get ‘creative’ and make a custom airstrip as long as the one in that infamous Fast & the Furious movie. If anyone needs help making this highly advanced track design let me know.

As for the method, I will stick a load of supposedly fast cars on the straight. Run the gauntlet without a boost and see how fast it takes each car. Obviously acceleration will skew the results initially, but the length of the track should see speed prevail. Will there be a clear winner?

Why am I doing this? Because SCIENCE and because a Hot Wheels Unleashed speed test is fun. And also because I foolishly removed one particular car from my top 10 best cars list because I think it will soon be nerfed.

Sitting comfortably? If you want to test out the speed of your own car, you can find my ‘McDrag Race’ track in Time Attack under Quick Modes. No boosting allowed!

Update: The first Hot Wheels Unleashed update has been and gone, bringing with it a nerf of the RD-02. The article has been updated accordingly. I tested a sample of cars to see if anything else was effected in the update, it appears not. The Street Weiner scored an identical time, for instance.

30) Hot Wheels Unleashed fastest car: Rodger Dodger

Rodger the Dodger is another American muscle monster, I’m just wondering whether that engine rodgers more than just windscreen visibility.

Time: 25.208

29) Supercharged

Supercharged seems like a good name for a fast car. Should be electric though given the High Voltage Racing slogan on the side. Drag race wheels too, but is that enough?

25.125

28) Bump Around

I can only hope most of you get the song reference for Bump Around, otherwise you will be in a House of Pain. Wow, that was bad. Anyway, this is supposedly another epically slow car according to those stats.

Time: 24.924

27) Bone Shaker Unleashed

Bone Shaker Unleashed is the first of the DLC ‘Volume 1’ vehicles. How does it stack up against the competition when driven in a straight line? Let’s find out shall we.

Time: 24.891

26) Winning Formula

A winning formula in the corners and it sounds epic, but will it be a Winning Formula when it comes to speed?

Time: 24.674

25) Twin Mill

The aerodynamic profile and ridiculous engine of Twin Mill suggest a fast drag time – which will be the end of us because of that braking power stat.

Time: 24.607

24) Tur-Bone Charged

Tur-Bone Charged handles well and I love the styling. Looks like it would be fast too, but then you should never judge a book by its cover.

Time: 24.541

23) Skull Crusher

Friendly name aside, the Skull Crusher appears to dramatically improve when upgraded to legendary. But that does mean dropping from a boost gauge to three reserve boosts.

Time: 23.640

22) Buns of Steel

Work out too much and you will get buns of steel. Or you can get it in Hot Wheels Unleashed for a more food-based vibe. Bad stats

Time: 23.623

21) Audi R8 Spyder

Wherever there is a racing game, Audi is probably not far behind. To be fair, I really rate the real-life supercar – mmm winter launch control – and the Hot Wheels Unleashed interpretation is hard to fault.

Time: 23.273

20) Ramblin’ Wrecker

Drive the Ramblin’ Wrecker and you will experience interesting handling. Keeping it straight was unnecessarily difficult, as you can see. Even so, it is not that slow.

Time: 23.223

19) Bad to the Blade

Bad to the Blade has a high speed stat so could be good to the drag race. Although from personal experience it feels like this is a car you drive if you favour handling and more spare boosts.

Time: 23.106

18) Humvee

Yes, all the braking power. Pointless, but still. Not sure a huge lump of military-inspired metal will be that fast right. Hmmm.

Time: 22.772

17) 442

American muscle time, the 442 has maxed-out speed. Its lovely four-boost reserve will not help it here though.

Time: 22.706

16) Duck N’ Roll

It’s yellow, shaped like a duck and, well, a yellow rubber duck. Full speed stat, too, and six boosts at the expense of allegedly poor handling.

Time: 22.605

15) ’55 Chevy

This is one of the coolest Hot Wheels Cars in the game. I want to buy a real-life version of it, regardless of how fast it goes.

Time: 22.589

14) Back To The Future Time Machine

This should be an easy victory for the DMC DeLorean. It can just go back in time and guarantee success. Will Doc and Marty will not be adding a Hot Wheels Unleashed drag race trophy to the cabinet?

Time: 22.589

13) Rip Rod

Not my favourite racer because of the standard colour scheme, but it does appear to be good on paper. Maybe there’s more than meets the eye.

Time: 22.555

12) Mini Cooper S

The Mini Cooper S is not even a fancy John Cooper Works version, but the stats look good. Also orange cars are always faster. Fact.

Time: 22.539

11) Night Shifter

Epic name, epic design, epic on track. Epic at my shifty McDrag Race though, that is the question.

Time: 22.522

10) Bone Shaker (not DLC)

The non-DLC Bone Shaker does not cost 79p or equivalent in your currency. But it does look cool and is available in Forza Horizon 4. Will it exist in Forza Horizon 5 too?

Time: 22.505

9) Batmobile

I find myself using the Batmobile a lot as it is an unfussy handler with three boosts. I doubt it will be that slow either – especially if Robin was left at home.

Time: 22.455

8) RocketFire

How fast do you think RocketFire is? It has a rocket on the back and five out of six bars for its speed stat. Place your bets now.

Time: 22.322

7) Hot Wheels High

My school bus was very slow and tended to play Radio 1. Is the Hot Wheels High variant, which does not want to drive in a straight line, faster? Its stats suggest it is the slowest or one of the slowest cars in Hot Wheels Unleashed.

Time: 24.274

6) 24 Ours

Up next, a Le Mans car with a not-so-subtle name. It is a beast on track – but how fast is it in a drag race?

Time: 22.205

5) Veloci-Racer

I love how the Veloci-Racer handles hence making it into my Top 10 Hot Wheels Unleashed best cars video. I just get the feeling it is not especially fast.

Time: 22.205

4) 2020 Koenigsegg Jesko

As a commenter pointed out, the Jesko is a follow-up to the Agera and in Hot Wheels Unleashed it is a beast. Maybe, however, that giant spoiler will hinder it in my drag race.

Time: 22.172

3) Custom Volkswagen

The paintjob on this Super Treasure Hunt Custom Volkswagen is epic and its stats suggest it is good in every area. Let’s see what some German engineering can do.

Time: 22.122

2) Street Wiener

How fast can a hot dog with a seat and cooking apparatus for a spoiler really be? A full speed stat suggests very.

Time: 22.105

1) RD-02

Did you think I would forget the RD-02? This is, after all, the car I removed because I feel like it will be nerfed. Even though some of you have rightly pointed out that, if real, it would probably be faster anyway.

As you have seen in other clips, it leaves everything for dust and is not even that bad at handling. Use this for any difficult quick races, time attacks or multiplayer. Just how fast can it finish my super complex custom track though?

Time: 19.077 (pre nerf) / 22.122 (post nerf)

As stated above, the Hot Wheels Unleashed developers have brought the RD-02 in line with other cars. Subsequently, it is no longer the fastest car. It comes in joint with the Custom Volkswagen.

So what did we learn?

So what did learn from this oh-so-exciting straight-line Hot Wheels Unleashed fastest car test? Firstly, that RD-02 is (was) so hideously overpowered it will (did) get nerfed. So hopefully you used it for online multiplayer and time attacks while you still could.

Secondly, the difference between what the Hot Wheels Unleashed stats deem the slowest car and the fastest, except the RD-02 of course, is not much. In fact, a few cars with almost maxed out speed were noticeably slower so stats seem inaccurate.

This reinforces what I thought was the case in my top 10 Hot Wheels Unleashed cars list, that boost amount is more important and so is how well you drive and ensuring you utilise the track boosts and recharge pads. Shortcuts are a huge plus too – some are ridiculous for saving time.

Basically, most cars can be competitive. So if you like the design of a certain car, you can use it unless the handling style really does not agree with you. Because some cars do struggle more in corners than others.

Thirdly, some vehicles do not like to stay in a straight line. Yes, Mr Duck and Mr School Bus, I am looking at you. Not sure why, but there you go.

Fourthly and finally, I am clearly a track-making legend.

And that is a wrap. Be sure to like, subscribe, comment and all that jazz. Coming soon, my top 10 worst Hot Wheels Unleashed vehicles list, super shortcuts showdown and whether wall-riding is fastest. Take care, bye.
