Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged confirmed by a toy car?

It looks like Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged could be a thing, if a recent diecast toy is anything to go by. Here is what we know.

Having sold more than two million copies, who could blame developer Milestone for making a sequel. And that appears to be happening as a Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged image reveals.

As spotted by one of my subscribers, thank you kindly, Instagram user and diecast enthusiast ‘ajiibnobi’ posted a photo of a Twin Mill, one of the most iconic Hot Wheels creations. Apart from revealing a new design, you can clearly see some wording.

That wording, ladies and gentleman, says Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged. This highly suggests a follow-up to the original Hot Wheels Unleashed is on the cards. Good news for those who enjoyed what is a very capable racing game.

Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged leaked Twin Mill

Unfortunately, the toy car from Mattel does not list a set of new game features, the release date or anything else to go on. So for now the Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged trail goes cold.

Which means it is time to put on my speculation top hat. What can we expect? Well, hopefully less of a DLC slog-fest as owning every car, season pass and other digital content originally cost a lot of money.

I would also hazard a guess we will see a new set of racing locations to reduce familiarity, new vehicles and maybe, just maybe, some new power-ups to freshen up the racing mechanics.

All of that would be in addition to the trademark speedy racing gameplay, massive jumps, aerial stunts, online multiplayer, some sort of career mode and, of course, ludicrous shortcuts that make completing the time trials a whole lot easier.

Is the leak legimate?

Of course, somebody sneaky could have put a sticker on a car to cause a commotion. But then supposedly that Twin Mill toy is exclusive to GameStop – the videogame retailer popularised by the stock and option trading subreddit, WallStreetBets.

It is unclear if Milestone would handle the Hot Wheels Unleashed sequel. However, the game was largely well received and I suspect Mattel will have enough faith to keep the developer in the driving seat.

Hot Wheels has become a staple in racing games, especially as the first major Forza Horizon 5 expansion from Playground Games was Hot Wheels. Though some complained it was unimaginative, it did add a pretty awesome map and some awesome vehicles.

Then there was Hot Wheels: Rift Rally, which is a mixed-reality racer where you drive around a 1:25 scale Chameleon RC car with a 1080p camera on top. In doing so, it turns your environment into a Hot Wheels park. Its developer, Velan, was also responsible for Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit.

I shall now proceed to try and sneak into the Milestone headquarters to find out more about Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged. Until then, be sure to like, subscribe and maybe become a Patreon.
